With a huge game ahead of us this weekend, sff.football caught up with both teams to have a chat about their take on the weekend’s headliner “Battle of the Wings II – #AllOrNothing”.  We spoke with the owners, the quarterbacks and one of the star female players from both squads. We must tell you that both sides were feeling quite confident and unnerved so it should prove to be an epic encounter, one for the record books.

The Anubis Winged Jackals head into the penultimate game of their season coming off their first loss in as 6 weeks, however, sitting very pretty with one hand on the rails of the steps to the Shitsuke Flag Football League Spring 2018 Season Championship game.  They have a healthy total of 216 points scored, a 5-2-0 record and 2-0-0 head to head against the Trogons.

The Trogons need a win and a big win.  They are flying into this game from a victory and a strong statement of intent that they ought to be in the fight for a championship game berth.  They need to win this game by at least 28 unreplied points and even better if they repeat the shutout they had last week against the Black Panther.  A lot rests on the shoulders of their soft spoken quarterback, Pelumi, as he needs a rapid scoring game for his team’s hopes to stay alive. They have 189 total points scored, a 4-3-0 record and 0-2-0 head to head against the Anubis.

Here’s the excerpt of the interviews:

Anubis

Co-owner (Bimbo)

SFF: Your team is heading into a must win game. How do you feel about your chances?

Bimbo: It’s obviously a game that we need to win, to get back to our winning ways. And winning this game solidifies our place in the championship game. But we are approaching this game with the same way we’ve played all our games – with our sights set on winning👍🏿. And based on the talent we have on our squad, I will say we have a pretty good chance at doing that.

SFF: Regardless of the result, you have to put up big numbers for safety in point separation, how do you feel about the challenge?

Bimbo: Our team has been briefed and are well aware of what’s at stake. I wouldn’t say we need to put up big points because we would have to finish with about -45 in the next two games to be out. But we have an offense that’s capable of putting up points, on a solid day. We hope to get one of those solid days, this Sunday.

Anubis

Co-owner (Tinuke)

SFF: Your team is heading into a must win game. How do you feel about your chances?

Tinuke: I’m pretty confident in the individual abilities of our players. We always go in and out of every game together as a team. We always play with the intention of winning. Winning all the time could make you comfortable, so I guess we needed last week’s loss to fire us up again.

SFF: Regardless of the result, you have to put up big numbers for safety in point separation, how do you feel about the challenge?

Tinuke:  We are fired up for our next game. If the team plays with the same determination we’ve been playing I wouldn’t be worried still. I have faith in our offense.

Anubis

Quarterback  (Jake)

SFF: Your team is heading into a must win game. How do you feel about your chances?

Jake: Ha, I’m feeling quite confident, we know it’s gonna be a battle but I think our team is well rounded enough to pull this off.

SFF: Regardless of the result, you have to put up big numbers for safety in point separation, how do you feel about the challenge?

Jake: Point separation?

SFF: If the 3 teams are locked in at 6-3, and head to head 2-1, the total points for will be used to break the tie.

Jake: Preparation is the same for all big games, but guess I will be going to bed early on Saturday. I don’t feel much pressure through, we have a ton of talent and depth at WR.  Not planning on giving up 10 interceptions this go round either.

Anubis

Wide Receiver (Ashley)

SFF: Your team is heading into a must win game. How do you feel about your chances?

Ashley: I have faith in our ability to win.  I think we have put in the work and have the skill.  I classify must win in that, if we lose we are definitely out.

SFF: Your team averages 30.8pts per game and you have been responsible for about 30% of your team’s total points. What are you taking into this last face-off with the Trogons?

Ashley: Am I? (laughs) that’s news to me.  Just going to do what I normally do to the best of my ability.
